Editorial reviews
After mourning her son for the past five years, beautiful Charlotte Remington Maitland is finally ready to move on. But her grandfather suddenly passes away while Charlotte and her new husband are spending the summer at her family's gothic mansion in Georgia, and Charlotte is left with his entire estate. The friction this causes within her family becomes the least of Charlotte's worries when it becomes clear that someone is ready to do anything to get her money, including murder. Narrator Emily Caldwell's husky voice will beguile listeners as she conveys both Charlotte's fragility and the minutiae of wealthy Southern life, and she deepens the layers of mystery and dread until the story's unpredictable end.
Publisher's summary

For Charlotte Remington Maitland, the past five years have been a haze of pain and loss. Now, with her new husband and teenaged daughter, she's found a second chance at happiness - until the moment her grandfather's will is read. As the sole beneficiary of the vast Remington estate, Charlotte will get everything that's coming to her. A killer will make sure of that - no matter who has to die... Trapped in a house of lies, searching for answers to deadly questions, Charlotte has never been more afraid. Someone knows her family's deepest secrets. Wow suspense
This author does an amazing job of bringing her characters and their surrounding into vivid life and keeps you guessing until the last 30 min who the killer is. The dramatic suspense, while intense, doesn’t become too stressful given my knowledge that Wendi Corsi Staub consistently delivers happy endings. Although the happy endings may look very different then you could have imagined!!

Eh...
First of all it took me 3 tries to get into this book....too confusing the narrator never really paused inbetween story lines at all! Bizarre narration, story was sooooo twisted up but not in a good chubby checker twist. I'm irritated I wasted a credit and I don't say that very much
